SALEM, N.J. — Fire raged through the heart of downtown Salem City Monday, gutting a building housing two businesses, damaging others and leaving firefighters battling desperately to contain the flames.
The devastating fire on East Broadway has been ruled “suspicious.”
Bystanders first spotted smoke rising out of an unoccupied upstairs space above South Jersey Sporting Goods and H&R Block office at 182-184 East Broadway around 12:30 p.m.
