An Oswego firefighter was injured while battling a fire Saturday on the city’s west side.

Capt. Tom Miller was treated at Oswego Hospital after he was struck by falling debris at 217 Murray St. shortly after 9 p.m.

It took about 30 minutes to bring the smoky blaze under control. The fire started in the kitchen, but the cause is still under investigation, officials said.

The house, owned by Wendy Johnson, was heavily damaged. Johnson was not home at the time, officials said.
