SAN FRANCISCO - Five thousand toys in thirty days -- that’s what the San Francisco Firefighters’ Toy Program and Nick Bovis, owner of Lefty O’Doul’s Restaurant and Sports Bar, hope to gather for Bay Area children who might not otherwise get Christmas presents this year, said press agent Lee Houskeeper.
“We’re hoping to hit 100 today,” said Houskeeper, who also said he’s confident that organizers will beat their overall goal of 5,000 toys.
This year the toy drive is making “a very special effort for Katrina victims” in the Bay Area, too. “They’re really in need of anything,” Houskeeper said.
