DALLAS — Two Dallas firefighters shot during a weekend Super Bowl getaway in Arizona were questioned two days before the deadly shooting about selling counterfeit NFL jerseys in a neighboring city, police said.
But police said there was no evidence that the alleged sale in Glendale, Ariz., had anything to do with the drive-by shooting 36 hours later in Peoria, Ariz.
Charles “Chucky” Whitaker, who died early Wednesday, and Reginald Cuington were interviewed by Glendale police Saturday afternoon after plainclothes officers spotted them and two other Dallas men selling the merchandise from a rented van, police said.
