KINKELBOS, South Africa — Two firefighters were seriously injured when a goods train collided with their truck in Kinkelbos near Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape, police said on Friday.
Spokesperson Superintendent Priscilla Naidu said the firefighters were on their way to Kinkelbos at 4am to extinguish a bush fire when the train collided with the fire engine at the Addo Heights Railway crossing.
The truck was dragged for over 200m and the driver and his assistant David Konzani, 37, and Nazeem Davids, 21, were taken to the provincial hospital in a serious condition.
