SPOKANE, Wash. — One person is slightly injured in eastern Washington after a supermarket roof collapsed under heavy snow.
Fire officials say no one was trapped in the debris after the collapse Monday in Spokane. Assistant Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer says the only injury was a minor one to an employee.
Customers safely evacuated the Rosauers store after the center portion of the roof fell in. The flat roof had about 30 inches of snow on it.
Firefighters are concerned about additional collapse and have evacuated adjoining businesses in a strip mall complex.
Spokane has been pounded by snowy storms this year and got several more inches in Monday’s storm.
