Texas firefighter killed in training fall laid to rest

KILGORE, Texas — Firefighters gathered in Kilgore, Texas, Thursday to remember one of the two firefighters killed in a training accident Sunday.

Firefighter Kyle Perkins died after falling from an eight-story building on the campus of Kilgore College where the department was training using a new ladder truck.

Representatives from E-One, the company that manufactured the truck, and NIOSH are expected to arrive in the town early next week to begin investigations into the incident.

Firefighter Perkins had been with the department since 2004.
