HILLCREST HEIGHTS, Md. — A malfunctioning electrical outlet is being blamed for Wednesday morning’s three-alarm fire at a high-rise apartment building in Hillcrest Heights in Prince George’s County.
County Fire and Rescue spokesman Mark Brady said 10 people were hospitalized after the fire. A firefighter who was critically burned has been upgraded to good condition. None of the other injuries — including minor burns to two other firefighters — are considered serious.
The damage at the Marlborough House Apartments is estimated at $100,000. Brady said residents of 32 apartments have been displaced because of fire and water damage.
