LOGAN, Utah — After less than two months on the job, Logan’s fire chief resigned Wednesday after reports of a police investigation surfaced.

According to a Logan City mayor’s spokeswoman, Kyle Lindsay resigned for what she called “personal reasons.”

The resignation was effective immediately and Deputy Chief Jeff Patterson was appointed as interim chief, the spokeswoman said in a written statement.

The specifics of the investigation have not been released but Smithfield Police Chief Johnny McCoy confirmed the probe to The Logan Herald Journal.

He told the paper that police plan to file the case with county attorneys Wednesday.

Calls to the Smithfield police as well as the Cache County Attorney’s Office were not immediately returned. Lindsay moved from Idaho to begin work as fire chief on June 21.
