Cause of Death: Firefighter Jaros was involved in a vehicle collision en route to an incident in his personal vehicle. Jaros was ejected from his vehicle due to a failure to use his seat belt. He died at the scene.
Additional Information: He leaves behind his wife and three children and was a member of the Ceredo VFD since March 2004.

CEREDO, W. Va. — It is with deep sorrow that the Ceredo Volunteer Fire Department announces the death of Firefighter Christopher Jaros. Firefighter Jaros died in the line of duty shortly after 1:00 AM on Saturday, April 7, 2007.
Firefighter Jaros was responding in his personal vehicle to the main Ceredo Volunteer Fire Department Station on B street when he was involved in an automobile accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred on U.S. Route 60, just west of the Mose A. Napier Bridge in Ceredo. The Ceredo Volunteer Fire Department had been called to respond to another automobile accident when the collision involving Firefighter Jaros occurred. Mutual aid agencies from Kenova and Cabell County EMS were called upon to aid in the initial crash.
A second vehicle was involved in the Route 60 accident with the driver and sole occupant of that vehile being transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W. Va. by Ceredo Volunteer Fire Department paramedics. The name of that individual is being withheld pending the official notification of immediate family members. Troopers from the Wayne Detachment of the West Virginia State Police continue to investigate the accident.
Firefighter Jaros entered public service with the Ceredo Volunteer Fire Department on March 7, 2004. He actively served his community until his death. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, and three children. The fire department has assigned a liaison to work with, and assist the family in any possible manner.
