Wis. firefighter dies after readying trucks for brush fire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — A Wisconsin firefighter died after responding to ready trucks for a brush fire Saturday, according to a report by the U.S. Fire Administration.

Firefighter John Weber, 77, a member of the Township Fire Department in Eau Claire, Wis., passed away in an apparatus bay after trucks had left for the call, the report said.

Indications are that the death was due to natural causes.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, off Highway 85, Rock Falls, Wisconsin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Township Fire Department.
