GOODMAN, Wis. — The bodies of two brothers who couldn’t walk were discovered Saturday in the rubble of a house fire in northern Wisconsin, the county sheriff said.
“The structure burned right down to the foundation and they were in the basement,” Marinette County Sheriff James Kanikula said.
Eight other family members escaped the blaze, the sheriff said. The father of the men was helping people out, but an explosion kept him from saving his sons, authorities said.
The names of the two brothers, ages 33 and 36, were not immediately released. Autopsies were scheduled for Monday.
It was unclear how the blaze began.
