SAPULPA, Okla. — A man was arrested for stealing a firefighter’s truck from a fire station and leading police on a nearly hour-long chase.

News On 6 reported that Tulsa Fire Department firefighter Earl Blevins had been battling a fire at a Macaroni Grill restaurant and was getting ready to go home when Charles Brown allegedly took off in his truck.

“Brought some stuff out, started my truck, went back in to get some more stuff, came out and the guys all said, ‘Hey Earl, somebody stole your truck,’” Blevins said.

Police said Brown threw a brick through his own apartment window, trying to hit his wife. When police tried to get him to surrender, he walked over to the fire station, stole the truck and led them on a chase.

“He stopped a number of times along the way,” Sgt. Justin Farley said. “He just seemed to be confused about what he was going to do next.”

Police said the chase ended with Brown crashing into a line of trees. Blevins said he’s only grateful no one got hurt.

“They said he was going 90, 95 miles an hour,” Blevins said. “He could’ve hit somebody and killed a whole family or something here at Christmas time, so I’m grateful that didn’t happen.”
