CLEVELAND — A man pleaded guilty to murder-for-hire charges Monday in the 2013 death of a fire lieutenant.

Chad Padgett, 23, accepted a plea deal of serving 28 years in prison and will testify against those involved in the murder plot of Cleveland fire Lt. William Walker. Lt. Walker was shot and killed Nov. 3, 2013 outside his home.

Padgett also pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, conspiracy and kidnapping, reported WHIO.

According to prosecutors, Lt. Walker’s wife, Uloma Walker-Curry, asked her daughter and Padgett to find someone to murder her husband; she allegedly wanted to collect insurance money and cover up fraud she committed in his name.

Padgett’s cousin, Chris Hein, recruited Ryan Dorty to kill Lt. Walker. Dorty pleaded guilty to the charges. He is currently serving a 15-year sentence for aggravated robbery in an unrelated case, reported Cleveland19.

Walker-Curry and Hein are also facing charges.
