BRYAN COUNTY, Okla. — A volunteer firefighter has been charged with two counts of arson in the third degree after burning pastures and then later responding to them.
KXII.com reported that James Logan Gregg, with the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Department, admitted to police he burned pastures.
“It’s pretty clear he set these fires and waited,” Bryan County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Steve Nabors said. “And was supposedly one of the heroes who would put it out.”
Since the fires, Gregg has been let go from the department.
Nabors said neither fire did much damage, but that he will “let the courts take this and handle it appropriately,” according to the report.
If convicted, Greg could face up to 30 years and a $20,000 fine.
