Investigators are viewing the two fires as suspicious

MARION, Ind. — Marion Firefighters fought a blaze Tuesday night at a house that caught fire for the second time within 48 hours.

Firefighters first responded to 915 E. 33rd St. on Monday morning for what they said appeared to be a suspicious house fire.

Capt. Matt Blocher said the incident was still under investigation when firefighters were called out to the scene again shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday.

After the first fire, gas and electricity in the home were shut off, and the sole occupant was staying somewhere else, he said.

“With no electricity or gas, that kind of eliminates some things,” Blocher said as to the cause of Tuesday’s fire.

Officials were still at the scene late Tuesday night investigating.

No injuries were reported in either fire.
