VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Firefighters were investigating what caused the fire that killed an 11-month-old child Thursday night in the Campus East area of Va. Beach.
Crews were called to a townhouse in the 5400 block of Scholarship Drive around 9:30 p.m. and quickly brought the fire under control. Battalion Chief Jack Crandell said they found the child’s lifeless body on the second floor, where the fire is believed the fire started.
Two police officers and a female relative were injured trying to save those inside the house.
