WENATCHEE, Wash. — Four Wenatchee Valley men are charged with arson and associated felonies after their arrests in a Sept. 19 string of destructive vehicle prowls.

Jeffrey D. Wagner and Kaleb J. Jones of East Wenatchee and Edward L. Smith of Wenatchee were arraigned Monday in Chelan County Superior Court on three counts each of second-degree arson. The men, all 23, also face charges of malicious mischief. Smith and Jones are also charged with second-degree criminal trespass and making a false statement to police; Jones is charged with fourth-degree assault.

The fourth man, 23-year-old Daniel Gonzalez of Malaga, is to be arraigned Wednesday on arson and malicious mischief charges.

Wenatchee police say the men were suspected in vehicle prowls, fires set in parked cars and other incidents beginning about 3:50 a.m. Sept. 19 in the 800 block of Cascade Street, where a rock was hurled through a home window. One fire was set that consumed a vehicle in the 500 block of Cascade Street, and someone attempted to set fire to another vehicle nearby. Another car fire was set in the 300 block of North Delaware Street. All four men were arrested after two of them allegedly trespassed on Central Washington Hospital property and threw rocks as a security guard there about 4:30 a.m.
