Firefighter injured in suspicious house fire

The fire rekindled in an upstairs bedroom; the blaze remains under investigation

FRANKLINTON,Ohio — A Columbus Fire Department firefighter was injured Tuesday morning while battling a rekindled house fire. Flames first erupted from the N. Princeton Ave. home around 1 a.m. Investigators told ABC 6/FOX 28 News that the fire started in a back room on the home’s second story.

Crews quickly put out the flames and an arson investigator was called in to determine if the fire was suspicious. The fire rekindled around 2:45 a.m. in an upstairs bedroom. CFD officials said the firefighter was injured when a piece of debris splashed into his eye. He was taken to a nearby hospital to have his eye flushed as a precaution.

The fire remained under investigation at 5:30 a.m. Investigators told ABC 6/FOX 28 News that they considered is suspicious.
