MOUNTAIN CENTER, Calif. — Firefighters found charred human remains inside a car in Mountain Center after they were called to fight a nearby brush fire.
No arrests have been made, according to a police sergeant.
Officials were called to the fire — burning along Highway 74 on the Santa Rosa Indian Reservation — about 3:55 p.m. Friday. The car — a 1990s Ford Mustang — and remains were found south of Idyllwild and east of Hemet. Investigators were unable to identify the person inside the vehicle, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Wallace Clear said.
