JACKSON, Mich. — A pile of debris that caught fire Friday afternoon in a former downtown energy building sent black smoke billowing out of the building’s window.
Mlive.com reported that six workers, which were part of the demolition crew from the Consumers Energy building in downtown Jackson, were rescued from the building by firefighters.
The building was undergoing demolition and has been vacant for the better part of a decade, according to the report. The fire remains under investigation, according to the report.
