HAMILTON, Ohio — Police have been called four times in the past five years to the Hamilton residence where firefighter Patrick Wolterman died battling a blaze.

Officers were the first on the scene Dec. 28 when ADT alarm service called in a burglar alarm. When they arrived, the fire was discovered along with an open cellar door, according to scanner traffic reviewed exclusively by the Journal-News.

Wolterman was killed when he feel through the dining room floor into the basement. Hamilton police announced Monday the blaze was arson, and Wolterman’s death is now being investigated as a homicide.

Lester and Bertha Parker, owners of the home in the 1300 block of Pater Avenue, left their residence for a 45th wedding anniversary trip to Las Vegas just hours before the alarm in the home alerted police dispatchers.

Lester Parker reported Nov. 4 that a bicycle, tools, grandfather clocks and a Phoenix Saratoga 12-gauge shotgun had been stolen from his garage, according to police documents obtained by the Journal-News.

The Parkers’ daughter, Melissa Lainhart, made a menacing report on July 10, stating that a suspect made threatening statements toward her, according to the police report.

After that report, an alert was placed in the dispatcher’s communications system letting them know that if police were ever sent to the location again, they needed to send more than one officer, according to Capt. Marc McManus.

On Aug. 11, 2012, Lester Parker reported a vehicle “keyed” overnight at his residence. On Feb. 2, 2011, the Parkers’ residential alarm sounded showing front door motion.

No arrests were made in any of the crimes reported, according to McManus.
