ONLEY, Va. — A firefighter has been charged with arson.
When Onley Fire-Rescue Chief Chris Davis noticed an unusual increase in the number of fire calls the company received last year and early this year, he began to investigate, he wrote in a post on Facebook.
When a pattern became clear, he notified Virginia State Police to investigate, he wrote. Davis suspected a firefighter could be involved and shared his concerns with an investigator.
The investigation led to a charge of arson for Brandon Haynes, according to Davis’ post. Additional arrests are possible, he wrote.
Davis told WAVY-TV that Haynes has been with the department a short time. He lives full-time at the fire station.
Haynes, who lives in Virginia Beach, is scheduled to appear in court on June 13, according to online court records.
