LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — U.S. Forest Service firefighters and the family of a fallen colleague were presented an appreciation plaque for their service during the Lolo Peak wildfire.
Times Record reported that the Arkansas Forestry Commission wildland firefighters and the Razorback crew received the plaque, along with the family of Keith Stokes, who died in the line of duty.
The U.S. Forest Service assembled 19 firefighters for the 28-day assignment to fight the wildfire that burned more than 38,000 acres.
“The AFC is dedicated to wildfire suppression and response wherever we can serve. When wildfire danger is low at home, we are pleased to offer out-of-state assistance through resources like our Razorback Crew,” AFC State Forester Joe Fox said. “We are very proud of the leadership and expertise shown by our firefighters. Our thoughts continue with those serving on wildfires across the western U.S.”
