About the Burlington City Fire Department
Fire Chief Ronald Devlin reports the Burlington City Fire Department is comprised of three fire companies with approximately 125 volunteer firefighters. Those firefighters are classified based on their training and age as Certified (Interior), Non-Certified (Exterior) and Junior (Under age 18). This training grant will allow the flexibility to receive emergency response training on-line at their fire stations or in the comfort of their homes.
Due to the ever-increasing demands placed on volunteer firefighters for required training and overall increase in emergency responses it is im portant to remember that they also need family time. Most volunteer firefighters work a 40hour plus work week at their regular job and then spend many additional hours training, responding to emergencies along with attending meetings and public relations events. This training grant will allow for them to spend some of their training time at home with their family. The Burlington City Fire Department logged 699 responses during 2006 inclusive of providing mutual aid assistance to surrounding communities in NJ and PA.
On behalf of the Officers and Firefighters of Burlington City, Chief Devlin would like to express his thanks and appreciation to TargetSafety and the International Association of Fire Chiefs – Volunteer and Career Officers Section for providing this valuable training resource.
