SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. — A 13-year-old cancer survivor was named an honorary firefighter this week.
AZ Family reported that Kaylee Moreno has been battling leukemia but is now in remission. Rural Metro firefighters from Station 842 named her an honorary firefighter for representing the "spirit of a hero" in her cancer battle.

Moreno received her own helmet and gear from crew members. She also took the captain's chair in the department's rig.
Her parents said she will still need ongoing treatment, but the worst is behind her for now.
