MONTEREY, Calif. — Monterey fire officials say two people died from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.
The victims were discovered Monday morning after police and fire units were called.
Firefighters found high levels of carbon monoxide inside the residence, and discovered the victims after entering with breathing equipment.
No other details about the case were released.
Officials advised people to check their heaters, as winter weather arrives, to make sure they are operating properly.
About 500 people die each in the United States from carbon monoxide poisoning, they said.
