DORCHESTER, S.C. — A firefighter is resting at home after being struck by a pickup truck Tuesday morning while raising money roadside for a charity.
AbcNews4 reported that the firefighter was in the street at an intersection collecting money for Carolina’s Children’s Charity when he was hit. The road was temporarily shut down while emergency crews responded. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The 37-year-old firefighter has been with Old Fort (S.C.) Fire Department for more than six years.
Fire officials said he sustained a cut to his head and ear and is in stable condition. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
