TRUMANN, Ark. — A thief broke into the home of a fallen fire chief and stole valuable mementos from his widow.

KSLA.com reported police are searching for suspects in the burglary from late Trumann Fire Chief Rick Winkles’ home.

The stolen items include Winkles’ badge and dog tags that were given to his widow after his death.

Chief Winkles died in the line of duty in January 2014 from a heart attack he suffered while battling a house fire.

According to a post on the Trumann Police Department’s Facebook page, evidence was collected from the scene that may help identify suspects but it could take several days.
