SALINE COUNTY, Ark. — A man who was arrested for impersonating a firefighter and stealing prescription medication from the elderly pleaded guilty Thursday.

KATV.com reported that Thomas Wright was sentenced to 60 months in prison plus 36 months suspended release. He’s accused of identifying himself as a firefighter and told residents he was inspecting their smoke alarms in order to steal prescription medication.

He was arrested in November 2016 after wearing a shirt with firefighter-paramedic stitched on it with a fire department patch.

Wright, who was employed with the City of Memphis Fire Department until 2008, later admitted to the crimes.
