NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A K-9 was stolen from a vehicle, according to a firefighter.

Horry County Fire Rescue firefighter Carl Hall said he placed his personal search and rescue K-9, a 3-year-old black and tan German Shepherd named Hope, in the back of his vehicle after training with her Tuesday while he left to get her props, according to WPDE.

A police report said that Hall returned to his truck and found that Hope was missing, and his passenger door was open.

The report said two bags were also missing from his vehicle, which included $420 worth of gear including a canine GPS tracker, first aid kit and a knife, according to Myrtle Beach Online.

Horry County Fire spokesperson Mark Nugent said Hall’s dog is not affiliated with the department.

Hall is offering a $3,500 reward for Hope, who is worth $10,000.

He added that Hope is equipped with a chip reader. The incident is currently under investigation.
