TAMPA, Fla. — A firefighter who won a pregnancy discrimination lawsuit against the city has returned to work.

ABC Action News reported that Tanja Vidovic is back at work at the Tampa Fire Department after winning a $245,000 settlement because she was terminated for complaining about harassment on the job.

“As soon as I came forward, the pressure came up. Again, I never expected to be fired,” Vidovic said. “The fire chief, I mean, he was aware of the harassment. He signed off on my evaluation citing that they were failing me because I was pregnant.”

Vidovic said she’s nervous about how she will be received at the department.

“Going back now, I would be untruthful if I said I wasn’t worried,” she said.

However, Vidovic added that she returned for her family and the fact that she loves being a firefighter.

“It’s my family’s future,” she said. “I’ve already invested a lot into this job. I love the job. I mean, I wanted to be an active member in the community helping people.”

The City of Tampa officials said they do not plan to appeal the lawsuit.
