SPOKANE, Wash. — A fire department welcomed their first female assistant fire chief.
KREM reported that the Spokane Fire Department hired Trisha Wolford as the first woman to be assistant fire chief for the department, and she said that while it is an honor, she’s one of many women who hold first responder leadership positions.
“I’m absolutely honored to be in the position, but I’m really happy just to be here and do my job like everybody else,” Chief Wolford said.
Chief Wolford hopes to inspire young girls to follow in her footsteps and say “oh that’s an option, I could do that too.”
