CULLMAN, Ala. — The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office is donating vehicles to four local fire departments to better serve their communities.
The Cullman County Commission this week declared surplus six vehicles in all from the sheriff’s office. The following vehicles will be donated accordingly: 2008 Dodge Charger to Bethsadia Volunteer Fire Department, 2009 Dodge Charger to Sardis VFD, 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe to Trimble VFD, 2004 Ford Expedition to Joppa VFD and 2000 Ford F-150 to the county hazardous materials team in Good Hope. A 2007 Ford F-150 will be transferred to the county parks department.
Sheriff Matt Gentry said the vehicles had become cost prohibitive for the sheriff’s office.
“Our local volunteer fire departments provide a great service to the community,” he said. “We had an opportunity to donate some of those vehicles to our local fire departments to be utilized for their needs in serving the citizens. We have a great working relationship with our firefighters and this was an opportunity for us to help them.”
