NEW HOLLAND, Pa. — Firefighters in New Holland helped a borough police officer wrestle a suspected drunk driver into submission Wednesday night.

According to police, officers and Garden Spot Fire Rescue crews responded to the 400 block of Brimmer Avenue around 10:30 p.m. to answer a call about a vehicle crash. Upon arrival, emergency responders found a minivan resting on its roof in the middle of the street.

Police said Robert Hooper III, 28, of Parkesburg, was driving south on Brimmer Avenue, when his minivan hit a parked car, which caused the van to flip. New Holland police Officer Wendell Metzler believed Hooper was intoxicated and attempted to place him under arrest.
