RICHMOND, Ky. — A restaurant plans to a help a firefighter who recently lost his home in a fire.
WKYT reported that two weeks ago, a spark from a car started a fire at firefighter Derek Hahn’s house.
“It’s hard to see it the way it is,” said Richard Jimenez, Hahn’s father. There’s not much left of Hahn’s home, which is the first house he ever bought.
Firefighter Hahn and his family lost nearly everything in the fire.
“He works for everything he’s got,” said Jimenez. “He works hard. He’s a hard worker. She [Hahn’s wife] had just gone out to go to Meijer, and I’m glad she took the boy with her because if not he would have been right alongside with Derek.”
On Thursday, Firehouse Subs in Richmond will donate 20 percent of its total sales for the day to firefighter Hahn and his family.
