CLERMONT, Fla. — Firefighters on Sunday will dedicate a new fire engine to one of their own, firefighter Keith Bernoir, who died in 2008 at age 44.
The dedication will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the first fire station jointly operated by the city and Lake County at 13341 Hartle Road.
Bernoir’s name and date of death has been inscribed on the side of the engine as a memorial to Bernoir. Members of Bernoir’s family are flying in for the dedication, according to city spokeswoman Doris Bloodsworth. The dedication is open to the public.
It’s not the city’s first remembrance of Bernoir.
In 2009, the city dedicated a 9-11 memorial at Fire Station 1 featuring a flagpole with one pedestal memorializing terrorist-attack victims and the other dedicated to the memory of Bernoir andClermont assistant chief April Hoover, who also died in 2008.
In July, the city dedicated a new aerial tower truck to Hoover.
