PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — Firefighters answering a call about a mannequin on fire outside a craft store in Pembroke Pines early Monday found something more disturbing -- a dead person.
According to Pembroke Pines police, shortly before 7 a.m. someone called 911 to report that a mannequin was on fire near Michaels, an arts and crafts supply store, at 11300 Pines Blvd.
Arriving crews from Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue determined that what was burning was actually a person who was found to be deceased.
The scene was secured by officers, and police are classifying the incident as “an undetermined death investigation,” according to Capt. Al Xiques.
The identity of the dead person is not yet known.
