OMAHA, Neb. — A 31-year-old Fremont man was sentenced Thursday to 24 months of probation in connection with the traffic death of an Omaha firefighter.
Jonathan Mumm, who was sentenced by Judge Jeffrey Marcuzzo, had pleaded guilty to misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide in the June 30, 2014, death of Scott Petersen, 37.
The off-duty firefighter was killed in western Douglas County when his motorcycle was struck head-on by Mumm’s pickup truck. Petersen, of Omaha, was southbound on 240th Street near Pacific Street at 12:20 a.m., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said, when the northbound pickup driven by Mumm crossed the center line and struck Petersen.
