Football team wears decal to honor fallen Mich. firefighter

A fifth grader, whose dad works as a firefighter, came up with the idea to put decals on his football team’s helmets to honor firefighter Dennis Rodeman

LANSING, Mich. — The Grand Ledge Youth Football team has a new look, after a ten-year-old on the team asked his coach to put a mark on their helmets to honor a fallen firefighter who left a mark on them.

A 5th grader with a big idea. “His dad works for the city of Lansing fire department, and when he found out that one of his fellow firefighters had passed away he wanted to do something to honor Dennis,” Heather Neely, Austin’s mom said.

And that’s exactly what Austin Neely did, he came up with the idea to put decals on his football teams helmets, in honor of firefighter Dennis Rodeman.
