LODD: NC firefighter dies after suffering medical emergency

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. — A firefighter died after suffering a medical emergency while on duty Monday night.
WBTV reported that Eric "Bubba" Pennell, with Central Alexander/Taylorsville Fire Department, was transported by EMS to a medical facility, where he later died.
"We ask that you keep the Pennell family, as well as the Central Alexander/Taylorsville Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers," the department wrote on Facebook.
Details surrounding the medical emergency were not released.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
