MILWAUKEE — A former Milwaukee firefighter pleaded guilty Tuesday to killing two people in a drunken-driving crash on the Milwaukee Brewers’ opening day last year.

Joshua Larson, 32, entered his plea to two counts of homicide by operation of a vehicle with a prohibited blood-alcohol concentration. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed two other counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

Prosecutors are expected to recommend eight years in prison followed by four years of extended supervision at his sentencing in July, said Larson’s attorney, Julius Kim.

Larson has “always felt tremendous remorse for what occurred,” Kim said in an email.

Larson was in his pickup truck speeding 70 mph down S. 60th St. in West Allis on April 4, 2016, when he hit a minivan leaving Johnson Controls on the 800 block of the street. He then crashed into a northbound Mazda.

Yoruba E. Sly Lundasi, the 64-year-old driver of the minivan, and his passenger, Wendell K. Johnson, 38, of Chicago, were killed in the crash. Lundasi was working as an Uber driver at the time.

Lundasi’s daughter told reporters last year her father would be “greatly missed.” Johnson, known as Ken, had moved to Chicago from Iowa and is survived by his wife and two children.

Larson was fired from the Milwaukee Fire Department after the crash.
