Actor Steve Buscemi leads bone marrow drive for firefighter’s son

The drive is being held on behalf of a New York City firefighter’s 2-year-old son, who was diagnosed with a potentially fatal blood disorder

NEW YORK — Actor and former city firefighter Steve Buscemi will lend some star power to a Brooklyn bone marrow drive.

CBS New York reported that the drive is being held on behalf of a New York City firefighter’s 2-year-old son, Owen Hogan, who was diagnosed with a potentially fatal blood disorder in April.

The boy needs a bone marrow transplant to survive, according to the report.

The drive is taking place at the Friends of Firefighters headquarters at 199 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the report.

Those attending need only to get their cheek swabbed to see if they’re a potential match.
