COLUMBUS, Texas — Texas firefighters were at the right place at the right time to prevent a fire truck fire from possibly destroying other fire apparatus and their firehouse.

The Columbus Fire Department posted on Facebook that Chris Pilsner with Renslip Fire Protection and Bernardo Fire Department, Firefighter David Meisell and Fire Administration Officer Duane Naiser were working on a firehouse upgrade when Pilsner heard a popping sound coming from Tower 14.

The trio saw smoke coming from the fire truck and quickly pulled it out of the firehouse and extinguished the fire.

According to the Facebook post, the fire was centered on the alternator and caused significant damage.
