VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A teenager was killed and four children and one adult were injured in an early Sunday morning fire in Van Buren Township.

Joyce Williams, public affairs manager of the Huron Valley Ambulance, said crews were called to the scene of the fire at 4:05 a.m. in the 47000 block of Denton Road. Williams confirmed the teen’s body was found by investigators this morning at the scene. Authorities have not released his name. They say he was one of seven people inside the home.

Williams said it’s unclear how the blaze started.

Three of the children were rushed to the University of Michigan’s Mott Children’s Hospital in critical condition, Williams said. The fourth child, also taken to Mott’s, is in stable condition, Williams said, adding that the adult was rushed to U-M Hospital in stable condition.

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene, Williams said. Further information was not immediately available.
