PHOENIX — Fire crews remained overnight at a Phoenix recycling center to continue pouring water on a wind-driven fire which burned bales of cardboard and other materials.
The fire started Tuesday afternoon at Arizona Pacific Pulp and Paper, with approximately 150 firefighters assigned at one point before the response was scaled back.
The fire continues to smolder Wednesday morning. Several fire units are at the scene along with environmental protection and utility personnel.
Wind gusts of up to 30 mph fanned the flames. Cause of the fire isn’t known.
There were no reports of injuries or flight delays.
