GALAX, Va. — Two children died in a house fire Thursday morning.
MyFox8 reported that the identity of the victims has not been released. Three children were in the house at the time. Two died and one was taken to a hospital, according to the report.
Galax Fire Chief David Hankley suffered smoke inhalation trying to save the children, according to the report.
It took firefighters from three departments about 20 minutes to get the fire under control.
A fire official said he doesn’t think the kids were home alone, but couldn’t confirm that adults were present.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
