NEWARK, Ohio — Multiple fire crews responded to a house fire Friday afternoon at the home of one of their own.
The home, which had damage in the basement and smoke damage throughout the house, is owned by Newark fire Chief Pat Connor. Newton Township fire Chief Jim Glover said the State Fire Marshal’s Office is being called in since it is a firefighter’s home.
He said having the state agency called in helps protect the integrity of the investigation. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
