ROY, Utah — A fire in Roy put a mother and daughter out of their home. However, firefighters not only saved the home from being destroyed, they also saved Christmas. The fire began at the home near 3400 West and 5800 South just before 10 p.m. Monday. No one was at home at the time.

Investigators believe the fire started in the garage. While fighting the flames there, firefighters noticed something very important inside the home.

“Guys did a great job. They went in and got all the Christmas presents, still wrapping paper on them, and brought them out,” said Capt. Ron Latham with the Roy Fire Department.
