MADISON, Wis. — Madison firefighters spent the night at the scene of an explosion and fire at a recycling plant.

The fire crew made sure the blaze at All Metals Recycling didn’t flare up again. The explosion and fire Wednesday afternoon started in a massive pile of cars and parts that stands about three stories tall. A crane was brought to the plant to pull out pieces of car parts so firefighters could access the hot spots.

Investigators will work to determine what caused the explosion at the plant which is about 2 miles south of the state Capitol.
